Former Inter defender Massimo Paganin spoke to Italian media outlet InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 victory over Udinese last night, highlighting the performance of Diego Godin.

“Godin’s assist for Stefano Sensi was like one you’d get from a trequartista”, he commented, before further examining Godin’s defensive play last night.

“Applied, disciplined, careful. But there is little to say about a player who has almost 600 appearances as a professional. It still takes some time to adapt to the new tactical system of the three-man defence, but it will take little to complete the acclimatization after the physical problems encountered in the pre-season preparations.”

Paganin played for Inter for four years between 1993 and 1997, helping the Nerazzurri to a UEFA cup title in his first season.

33-year-old Uruguayan defender Diego Godin joined Inter on a free transfer this summer after nine seasons in Spain with Atletico Madrid, whom he helped win a league title, a Copa del Rey and two Europa League trophies, among other honours.
