Stefano Sensi has been one of the surprise stars at the early stage of the season but could have been starring for Inter long before now according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri first sparked an interest in the Italian international back in November 2015 having watched him play for Cesena against Bari.
Sensi would go on to join Sassuolo in 2016 and back in January of this year, his agent Giuseppe Riso began the process of trying to get his client to the Nerazzurri. At the time however, Inter’s city rivals AC Milan appeared ahead but Sensi only wanted a move to Inter.
During the Summer transfer window, Milan were set to meet with Sassuolo chief executive Giovanni Carnevali to potentially close a deal for Sensi but Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta phoned and that completely changed things.
Sensi would get his desired move to Inter, joining on a season long loan with Inter having an option to sign him on a permanent basis next Summer for a sum of €25 million.
He has arguably been Inter’s star man this season having netted two goals in his first three appearances for the side.
