The Serie A is billions of euros behind the English Premier League in television revenue, with Inter receiving the second highest figure in the league, according to international media outlet Transfermarkt.

The Premier League generated over €2.5 billion from television rights last season, whereas the Italian topflight will only generate €1.4 billion over a three-year period from 2018-21.

Juventus are ahead of the other teams in Italy, receiving €85 million, with Inter receiving the second most at an estimated figure of €84 million, with Milan and Napoli both earning €77 million from the rights.

Some critics have argued that the money Premier League clubs receive from television rights are lowering the amount of competition European teams can provide in international tournaments such as the Champions League or Europa League.

Last season both the Champions League and Europa League featured only English teams: Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Only two teams outside of England broke into the top 10 of teams that receive the most from television rights, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
