Former Reggiana and Milan winger Paulo Futre believes that Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Serie A two Summer’s ago is what convinced many other players to move to Italy.

Futre’s compatriot joined Juventus in a €100 million deal from Real Madrid, where he won all before him, including multiple world player of the year awards.

“The Serie A has benefited from Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival. The league has grown. Great players like Romelu Lukaku, Hirving Lozano, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and others have arrived since,” the former Portuguese international said in an interview with Milan based news outlet Corriere della Sera.

“But in order for Italian football to get back to the levels it was at in the past, AC Milan need to get better. I do not even remember the last time that they were in the Champions League but I am sure that my friends Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban will soon take them back into it.”
