FIGC, the Italian football federation, president Gabriele Gravina would like to see changes made to the current legislation after Cagliari escaped punishment for their fans recent racist chanting toward Inter’s Romelu Lukaku according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

It was ruled yesterday by the sports judge that the Rossoblu would not be receiving sanctions for the chants and this is the third time that the Sardinian side have avoided punishment for racist chanting.

In Inter’s 2-1 away victory over Cagliari, a portion of Cagliari supporters behind the goal subjected Lukaku to racist chanting as the Belgian striker prepared to take a penalty – which he would duly slot home.

As things stand, potential punishment depends on how audible the chants were and how many people were involved. Gravina would like to see the legislation changed which would allow for even the most minor of incidents to be punished.
