Slavia Prague star Peter Olayinka has shared his disappointment at his side being unable to hold on for a famous victory against Inter in the Champions League opening round on Tuesday night.

Olayinka gave the visitors a lead and they were just minutes away from securing a historic win against the Nerazzurri before Nicolo Barella popped up and saved the day with an equaliser for Inter.

“We are sorry. Missing out on being able to win and get three points in the last few minutes is a shame but let’s take a point,” the Nigerian striker explained in an interview with Slavia Prague’s official club website.

“I thought for a moment I was offside when I had scored but then I looked at the referee and found out that all was well. I was very happy.”

He concluded by admitting he realised a childhood dream by playing and scoring at San Siro.

“San Siro is a fantastic stadium. When I was a child, I watched the stadium on TV and dreamed of one day scoring a goal there. Now that has happened and it is an incredible feeling.”
