Ahead of this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, legendary Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has spoken on how goals scored in the Milan derby are viewed dependent on the end result in the match.

“If you scored a goal but lost the game, the goal was worth nothing because in Milan all that is looked at is the victors. If you scored and Inter won however, you were considered a God,” he said in an interview with Milan based news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

Altobelli, who spent 11 years on Inter’s books and is one of the top 10 scorers in club history, then shared his views on Inter club record signing Romelu Lukaku, who arrived at the club in the Summer transfer window from Premier League club Manchester United.

“Lukaku? He is the man that Antonio Conte wanted. Even when he does not score in matches, his work for the team is very useful.”
