Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli spoke to Italian media outlet Sportweek today about the Milanese derby, with the former striker scoring seven times in the fixture.

Talking about the derbies in his career, Altobelli was nostalgic.

“I remember two things. The derby was very much felt because a lot of Inter and Milan players came from the youth sector, there was a desire to win that went back in time. They were always exciting games, there was never any action in the middle of the pitch: we played like that for 90 minutes, when one team ended up attacking the other, it always turned the game upside down. When you lost you had to wait 4-5 months to make up for it and it wasn’t nice. Imagine if you missed the return…”.

The former Inter striker then spoke of coach Antonio Conte.

“The players are his soldiers. We have a team that may be missing something on paper, but with the desire to get transmitted by Conte we made a good start and we are first in the table: we saw the attachment to the jersey, respect for the fans and the team. Although it should not be forgotten that in the last two years with Spalletti perhaps you did not go to see Inter for the game.”

Finally, Altobelli spoke of his predictions for tonight’s game.

“Today I don’t care who will score, the important thing for Inter is to win. Who has the most chance of being decisive? Surely Lukaku and Lautaro. But watch out for Brozovic and Sensi’s entries and the corners, with the three defenders jumping very well. If it ends with a goal from Lukaku or Lautaro, however, it’s better”.
