Tonight’s derby between Inter and AC Milan is more than just a battle of teams, with football ideologies also at war. Rome based newspaper il Corriere dello Sport highlights that Inter coach Antonio Conte’s ideology being “Heads down and work hard” whilst AC Milan coach Marco Giampaolo’s ideology is “Heads high and play”.

The report details how Giampaolo is expected to line-up the Rossoneri to feature a mixture of physical attributes and technique, with Ante Rebic potentially starting ahead of Lucas Pacquetà and Franck Kessie starting ahead of Rade Krunić. This is because Milan are not looking to play individual football, but instead collective dynamics and harmony in movement.

Inter, on the other hand, are planning to use the creativity of midfielder Stefano Sensi to help launch attacks either toward striker Romelu Lukaku or on the wings towards Antonio Candreva or Matteo Politano.

To nullify Milan’s attack, Inter’s defensive trio of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Diego Godin will be used to contain Rossoneri striker Krzysztof Piątek.
