Inter coach Antonio Conte held the traditional post match press conference last night following Inter’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Milan derby.

“It was certainly a good game from many points of view, from the technical point of view and from the point of view of the personality in the phase of not having possession, trying to hurt Milan.”

“I’m happy because it was a good match against a great team, a Milan that is a top club like Inter. Then today it was a derby played away from home, I’m happy for the whole Inter environment and for our fans: for me it was also the first derby, I also felt pressure to present myself in the right way.”

The 50-year-old Italian coach then discussed Inter’s poor performance against Slavia Prague in the Champions League earlier in the week.

“On Tuesday we didn’t give a good performance, but I see the glass as half full because that performance gave us a poison that maybe a win there would have made us face Milan with more superficiality. Having said that I’m still not happy about Tuesday, but today the guys have shown that when we want to, we can.”

“Apart from the two goals, we created a lot and Milan made a couple of counters on two of our mistakes. A deserved derby win.”

Conte then talked about how much his influence affected Inter’s performance last night.

“I don’t know how much of me there is, certainly in negative situations there is so much of me and it is right that I take responsibility. Today it was a positive performance and it is right to give credit to the guys who have done what we prepared in a fierce way.”

“Then these were games in their own right, you have to show that you want to win more: we were good against a well organised team. This has to make us understand that if we want, we can.”

Finally, the former Chelsea and Juventus coach discussed the pressure coming into his first Milanese derby.

“I feel under scrutiny daily, but I feel a great responsibility because everyone gives it to me anyway, even if I don’t want to take it upon myself. But as I always say: I’ll put everything I can into Inter because when I marry a cause I’m the number one fan of that team, which today is Inter.”

“Today I don’t sleep for Inter, that’s undeniable, it happened with Chelsea, first with the national team and Juventus. I put everything into it myself, I don’t have to be accepted by anyone, I want people to understand – even those in the opposition – that I give everything of myself and today I’m the biggest supporter and that’s how it will be as long as I’m the coach. Then in the future I’ll also be a fan of the teams I’ve trained.”
