Inter full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio spoke to gathered reporters in the mixed zone last night after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the Milanese derby.
“First of all, winning the derby was what we wanted, we said it to ourselves in the locker room: the derby is won by those who want to win the most, we wanted to win the most, we showed it. You think about the next game because if you don’t give continuity of results, everything you’ve done doesn’t matter.”
The player then talked about the importance of this season.
“There’s the awareness of doing important things if we all give 100%, we’re willing to sacrifice, we don’t complain, and we play as a team.”
D’Ambrosio then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s performance in the game.
“I’m happy with the performance of the team, we were first on every ball, we won all the battles, we handled the ball well except for a few counterattacks in the first half but we dominated the game. The important thing is to win the three points, then if it ends 1-0 or 4-0 it doesn’t matter. The important thing is to bring home the three points.”
The full-back discussed the Nerazzurri’s upcoming game against Lazio.
“Lazio is a team that has been playing for many years together with a well-defined system, they know what to do. It’s a game is never easy, even when we won it wasn’t easy and at other times we even lost. It’s a game in which every single player has to give 110%.”
Finally, the player discussed the influence of coach Antonio Conte on the squad.
“The fact is that you don’t accept a draw. As a result, we always fight for the three points but to do this we have to work hard every day as we are doing. But we’re still in September and it’s still too early to draw conclusions.”
