During Antonio Conte’s first press conference he made it a point to mention that he would like a mentally strong Inter, something that big winning clubs do, meaning no more Pazza Inter.

Welcome to this alternate reality where Inter, a club that has madness as part of its DNA, goes into games with a plan and then executes them with absolute professionalism. It has been a very long time coming and long may it continue.

Samir Handanovic – 6: Not much to do during the entire derby. The 3 defenders in front of him did their job very well to say the least. Samir wont complain about that at all for sure.

Diego Godin – 7: Absolutely world class in the first half, got out of a lot of tricky situations all over the pitch using his experience, especially against Leao. Fantastic.

Stefan de Vrij –  7: Didn’t get a single pass wrong in the first half, simplicity was needed and he’s good at that. The one time Godin made a mistake, Stefan was there.

Milan Skriniar – 7: Played like a veteran again. Eats up miles on the pitch along with opponents like they are mere mortals. Absolute giant physically and mentally.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Should have scored, regardless of the offside decision. The new position means he had to cross well but he was woeful at that. Defensively solid.

Nicolo Barella – 7: Lost the ball a lot while inside the Milan third but a much better performance. Won a few duels and that cross to Lukaku was perfectly executed. Future.

Marcelo Brozovic – 8: Return to form. Kept it ticking all throughout when he had the ball. Strong tackles to stamp his authority. Then the goal to put Milan into crisis mode.

Stefano Sensi – 7.5: Continued his out of the world run of form. One poor moment in the first half that could have been costly. Taken off early to be wrapped in wool.

Kwadwo Asamoah –  7.5: Amazing last ditch tackle to block that Suso counter and save Sensi’s blushes. But a lot of running that caused trouble to open up huge spaces.

Romelu Lukaku – 7: Involved a lot more today, but Inter didn’t give the ball into space for him to exploit his pace all throughout the game. Was hungry for goals and ready to pounce.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Spent a lot of time chasing down the Milan defense and almost got a goal out of it. Tired out soon in the second half. Deserved a goal.

Matias Vecino – 6: Had 20 minutes to just do what he likes. Take the ball and run at opponents from deep. Chase down opponents or harass them into giving the ball away.

Matteo Politano – 6.5: Matteo is proving to be a great impact player for Conte and is getting minutes ahead of Alexis. Unlucky to not score his wondergoal tonight. Flash.

Antonio Candreva –  6.5: Antonio is known to be the man for the derby and almost came on and increased the lead. A few minutes to close down the left flank which he did well.

Antonio Conte – 8: Perfect game plan in the first half. Kept Milan pinned down. The second half showed us why Conte is one of the best. Correct subs and mentality. Top.

Daniele Doveri – 6.5: Some non bookings were perplexing. Maybe let a few free kicks go as well but overall he had a brilliant game and kept things under control. Calm.

Inter – 10: After a poor midweek result and the media chasing Inter into corners, the squad combined and played as a compact, fully functioning unit. Team spirit.

Agree? Disagree? Is Godin really as old as some media outlets described him as? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
