Atalanta have escaped sanctioning, at least for the time being, with the FIGC sports judge ordering an investigation into the racial abuse that a portion of their support subjected Dalbert too according to a report from ANSA.
During Atalanta and Fiorentina’s 2-2 draw over the weekend, some Atalanta fans targeted Dalbert and racially abused him which even saw the game temporarily halted by referee Daniele Orsato after a public announcement calling for the chants to cease proved unsuccessful.
Sports judge Gerardo Mastrandrea has ordered an additional investigation by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, in order to acquire every useful element, including the testimony of the player in question, about the actual scale and origin of the chants.
The Brazilian defender, who is on loan at La Viola from Inter, has become the latest player in recent weeks to be subjected to racist abuse in Serie A after Inter’s Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan’s Franck Kessie were both also recently racially abused.
