Former Inter striker Hernan Crespo has sang the praises of compatriot and current Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

“He has plenty of personality. As soon as he arrived they considered him an alternative to Mauro Icardi. The first game I saw him in was Inter-Cagliari at a full San Siro. Icardi was not there and he went on to score with his first decent chance. He fought hard and whatever he touched turned to gold,” Crespo remarked in an interview with Argentine radio station Fox Sport Radio.

Crespo, who spent four seasons at Inter across three separate spells with the club, then went on to discuss the 22-year-old’s ability to play in different tactical systems on the pitch.

“The other week against Mexico, he showed what he can do. He can play as a lone striker or with a partner. He has many skills in his arsenal and is a great player.”
