Inter and AC Milan currently prefer the new stadium plan from the Populous group according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The American architecture firm were behind Tottenham Hotspur’s brand new state-of-the-art ground and their plan for the stadium involves lots of lights and glass surrounding it which, when lit up, will resemble Milan’s famous Duomo cathedral.

They have, at least according to the report, fought off a joint bid from renowned architect Davide Manica and Cmr, who planned to make the new stadium more traditional with two intertwining rings, one red and one blue, to signify the two shared tenants of the stadium.

The new stadium project is estimated to cost the two Milanese clubs around €1.2 billion, with approximately half of that going toward the construction of the new stadium itself and the other half going toward the surrounding area which will include hotels, shops and an entertainment area.
