Kylian Mbappe has come to the defence of new teammate Mauro Icardi and insists that the Argentine is not entirely like how he is showcased in the media.
The 26-year-old striker joined Paris Saint Germain on transfer deadline day in a season long loan move from Inter, with the Ligue 1 outfit also having an option to buy Icardi on a permanent basis for a reported €65 million.
“I see him in a very good way. People judge him for things off the field, without trying to really get to know the person he is,” the young French international said at last night’s FIFA The Best awards ceremony.
“For me, he is a very interesting lad but also very shy. Mauro tiptoed into the PSG dressing room and is giving everything for the shirt.
He concluded: “It is up to us to ensure he adapts in the best way. Then, when it happens, he will score a lot of goals for us.”
