Enzo Maresca performed well for the most part in his role as referee in Inter’s 1-0 win over Lazio last night but there was room for improvement,in the eyes of Gazzetta dello Sport.

He had a near perfect first half performance but made two errors in the final minutes in the first half. He firstly failed to award Inter with a free kick on the edge of the box after Francesco Acerbi handballed it and then secondly, he did not give Lazio a free-kick for Nicolo Barella’s tackle on Felipe Caicedo.

He started the second half on a bad note as he failed to punish Matteo Politano for a foul on Lazio’s Angolan defender Bastos but redeemed himself later on as he perfectly dealt with the situation where Cristiano Biraghi and Luiz Felipe collided at the half way line.

In the final minutes, he booked Lautaro Martinez but should not have booked the Argentine, who was complaining that he failed to award a free kick.
