Prior to this morning’s official presentation of Inter and AC Milan’s plans to build a new stadium to replace San Siro, a small group of protesters gathered outside to voice their concerns.
“We want to defend the rights of the residents. We want to fight the consumption of the territory and the work of speculation underway to cement San Siro. San Siro is a green area, devoted to sport and free time that will become completely cemented,” a female representative of the Gruppo Verde San Siro told media outside the official presentation.
“San Siro is a symbol of Milan loved by all. We can easily modernise it, there was even a project put forward by Stefano Boeri.”
She concluded: “However, it makes it more convenient for the two clubs to cement the area and the Municipality to cash in for urbanisation. There is no attention to the greenery and livability of the area. We will do our best to make you listen.”
