Inter chief executive Alessandro Antonello has confirmed that Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium will be completed before 2026.
“From today there will be consultation among the citizens, then the criteria for the decision will be collected. They will be criteria that will concern aesthetics, functionality and the opinions of the citizens,” he said at a press conference after the presentation.
“How much will the Winter Olympics affect things? We do not expect to get close to the Olympics without having completed the project. The construction will take more than three years but it will arrive before 2026.
“The timing is dictated by the law on stadiums. On October 10 there will be the first deadline linked to the public interest. The next steps are marked by the law, the last word is up to the Municipality but the two clubs think that having a new stadium is the best proposal, but if there are other proposals we will evaluate them, but always in Milan. We will see what the indications of the Municipality will be.”
He was then asked about whether Evergande have been spoken too with regard to the new project.
“The discussion occurred strictly at ownership level, working with Evergrande gives us comfort but for now the hypothesis of their involvement is not on the table.”
