Despite reports suggesting he would miss the match, Gazzetta dello Sport are now reporting that Lionel Messi could well be available for selection for Barcelona’s match with Inter next week.

The multi-time world player of the year sustained an injury to his thigh in Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Villarreal a few days ago and there were fears from the Spanish club that he would miss the next few games as a result.

He will almost certainly miss the Blaugrana’s match tomorrow against Getafe but could be back to face Inter in the second round of the Champions League group stage.

It can be presumed at this stage that he probably will not start the match but it cannot be ruled out that he may come off of the bench during the match at the Nou Camp.

The 32-year-old’s 2019/20 season has been disrupted by injury so far and he has been limited to just one start and two substitute appearances for a total of 120 minutes.
