Fabio Quagliarella is a doubt for Sampdoria’s match this weekend at home to Inter due to a neck problem according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The veteran striker, who was the top scorer in Serie A last season with 26 goals, was an unused substitute in Sampdoria’s 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina on Wednesday night.

After the match Sampdoria manager Eusebio Di Francesco confirmed that Quagliarella had sustained the injury a few days ago and had not been able to train in the lead up to the defeat to La Viola.

With Sampdoria rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table heading into this weekend’s Serie A action, they will undoubtedly be hoping Quagliarella is not kept out for the long term.

Manolo Gabbiadini got the nod ahead of him in Florence but with former Inter youngster Federico Bonazzoli coming off the bench and scoring, it remains to be seen who Di Francesco will go with for Saturday evening’s affair.
