Inter and AC Milan hope to have their proposed new stadium built by 2023 according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The two Milanese clubs officially presented their plans to the public yesterday and now the ball is in the city council’s court as they have until October 10 to declare a public interest in the project, in line with the regulations on the building of new stadiums.

Once they get approval, Inter and AC Milan will then be able to present the complete plans and then 120/180 days will need to pass before they can get the final go ahead.

The clubs want the ground constructed by 2023 to allow them to both move in in 2024. This then gives plenty time for the planning committee of the 2026 Winter Olympics to sort out the logistics. San Siro was originally meant to be the place where the opening ceremony was to take place but with it to be flattened, it will instead take place in the new stadium.
