Corriere della Sera report that Inter and AC Milan’s proposed new stadium could in fact end up being a mix between the two plans in the running.

The Milanese clubs officially presented the plans of Populous and Davide Manica-Cmr to the public yesterday and as things presently stand, Populous appear to be in the lead but only for the stadium aspect of the project that is to cost an estimated €1.2 billion.

Populous’ plan, known as ‘The Cathedral,’ is for a very self sufficient stadium covered in glass and lights that will share a slight resemblance to the spires of the famous Duomo cathedral in Milan’s city centre.

Manica-Cmr’s stadium follows a more traditional outlook and its main feature will be two intertwining rings, one red and one blue to signify the two clubs who’ll play there, hence the project name ‘The Rings Of Milano.”

Once the two clubs decide on a stadium, another race will then begin between the two competing parties to build the areas outside the ground which will contain entertainment areas among other things.
