Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has rejected a chance to move to the super-rich Chinese Super League according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The Brazilian striker has managed to get his career back on track whilst out on loan at Flamengo from Inter and as a result, Guangzhou Evergrande, among some other unnamed Chinese sides, came in for him.

Intermediaries spoke with officials from the Chinese powerhouses but Gabigol himself has called any potential deal off as he believes, with all due respect to Chinese football, that he can play at a higher level, at least at this stage in his career.

Flamengo’s intentions are unequivocally clear when it comes to Gabigol. They want to sign him on a permanent basis and talks are expected to take place with Inter in December, when his loan deal expires. As per reports that have done the rounds in the media, Inter are wanting around €20 million to part ways with Gabigol but that price could rise if his good form continues.
