Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has denied rumours the club is looking to purchase Inter defender Milan Skriniar, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Spaniard, who is looking for a third consecutive Premier League title this season, has a known appreciation of Skriniar, but has said that the club are not aiming to purchase the Nerazzurri defender.

City do have an injury crisis, with key defender Aymeric Laporte out for the majority of this season with a serious knee injury, but Guardiola was insistent Skriniar will not be heading to Manchester in the upcoming January transfer window.

Pep told reporters: “It’s not my business, but in January we won’t buy him because we didn’t have money to pay large sums in the summer. Consequently, we won’t be able to do it in January either.

“We will manage with the players we have, with Harwood-Bellis and Garcia and new players from the youth sector. We have young and talented players and we can count on them.”

Skriniar is expected to start for Inter this evening when they play his former club Sampdoria in Serie A.
