Fiorentina captain German Pezzella is confident Inter will give Juventus a much harder challenge for this season’s Serie A title than they had last year.

The Bianconeri clinched the Scudetto with five matches to spare last year and were never under pressure from either Napoli or the Nerazzurri.

But Pezzella has no doubt Maurizio Sarri’s side will be given a run for a money this time, with Inter already two points clear in the early table.

“It won’t be a walk in the park for Juventus this time,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“They’re going to have a proper head-to-head battle with Inter. Conte is a winning coach and has brought his mentality to the Nerazzurri locker room.

“The battle between Inter and Juve will also be a fight between Lautaro and Dybala, two of my teammates. They’re two talents who will be two of the biggest stars this season.”

Inter’s Derby d’Italia next weekend against Juventus is their most crucial game of the season so far, with Conte desperate for a victory against his former side. A win there, alongside the expected victories today of Juventus and Inter, would put the Nerazzurri five points ahead of the Bianconeri after seven games.

First though, Inter must play Sampdoria this evening as they look to extend their perfect start to the league.
