Inter have won their legal case against former defender Eloge Koffi Guy Yao, according to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Ivorian centre-back, who was part of the Nerazzurri’s first-team squad during the 2016-17 season, had decided to turn to FIFA to invoke article 15 of their regulations on player transfers, which states that a player can be released if he hasn’t played at least 10% of his club’s games, after spending the entire season either on the bench or out of the Nerazzurri squad.

However, Inter appealed the claim and won, because the requirements for the application of Article 15 were not met. As such, FIFA have condemned Yao for the violation of article 17 and have ordered the player and FC Lugano, his new club, to pay the Nerazzurri just under €500,000.

Inter’s lawyer Angelo Capellini said: “A player who makes an appeal must be careful that the violations of his rights have existed. Otherwise, it becomes automatic that it is the lawyer himself who has to compensate the club.”
