Sampdoria’s game against Inter tonight could be Massimo Ferrero’s last as the Blucerchiati’s owner, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The paper detailed how on Monday the period of exclusive negotiations between Ferrero and a group of investors led by Gianluca Vialli will end, with the consortium looking to complete a takeover of the Ligurian club.

Whilst the two parties can still negotiate beyond this date, the 30th September is the last day of exclusivity.

Ferrero is keen to sell Samp but refused to discuss the deal ahead of this evening’s game against the Nerazzurri.

“There’s too much talk, I’m focused exclusively on the team,” he said.

“Many times in the past, I’ve heard that it was my last game. I said it even after my tenth derby, with nine good results, six of which in three seasons, and I repeat it today.

“Let’s think about Sampdoria, let’s all be united…”
