Inter coach Antonio Conte answered questions from the gathering reporters at the official post match press conference after the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 win over Sampdoria.

“We were dominating, then we went from a potential 3-0 score line to suffering a red card and conceding a goal. It was a situation that could have killed us, but it didn’t. Then I was forced to make certain changes, even taking some risks.”

The coach then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s performances so far and their upcoming game against Barcelona in the Champions League next week.

“We had only played 5 matches and only gotten to grips with the Champions League when we were a little surprised by Slavia. Now we face Barcelona. We need to regain our energy to be ready for an intense match, only then can you put them in trouble. And then you have to be good at dribbling as well as create when going forward. But you can’t let them play, otherwise it would become a problem.”

Conte then discussed the reaction of the Inter fans following the final whistle tonight.

“They supported us from start to finish, especially during the difficult moments of the match. At the end of the game there was a lot of pressure and I was convinced that they too were suffering during the second half, so it was nice to share this joy. I repeat: I am as you see me. If I cheered it’s because I wanted to.”

Finally, the former Chelsea and Juventus coach spoke about Inter’s perfect start to the season.

“The start of this season is the result of a lot of work and willingness on the part of the lads, of course. There are no other explanations. It’s not usual to find everyone so available when you arrive at a new club: for them I will always give everything because they do the same for me.”
