Alexis Sanchez has explained why he opted to join Inter during the Summer transfer window on a season long loan from Manchester United.

“I wanted to get back to playing football. Inter are putting something good together for the future. They have not won anything for seven or eight years and it was on this basis that I decided to return to Italy to join them. I want to win something with this club,” he remarked in an interview with UEFA.com.

“Every player would like to win a Champions League. You play it to win it, not just to compete. I play it to win. It’s a good thing for every player and Inter have to be excited to play the Champions League again.”

He then spoke on how he and his Nerazzurri teammates can overcome Barcelona in their next Champions League fixture.

“At home they are a very strong side. They have a real sense of security playing at home and if we have a chance or two, then we cannot waste them. I played with Manchester United there and wasted three or four clear chances. If you want to beat Barcelona you cannot throw away any clear possibilities.”
