The refereeing appointments for this weeks action in the Champions League have been confirmed, with Damir Skomina assigned to referee Inter’s group stage encounter away to Barcelona.

The 43-year-old, who refereed last year’s Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, will be assisted by compatriots Jure Praprotnik and Robert Vukan. The fourth official at the Nou Camp will meanwhile be Slavko Vincic.

Dutchman Danny Makkelie has been assigned to take charge of VAR and he will be assisted on Wednesday night by Rade Obrenovic.

Skomina, who also referees in Slovenian’s Prva Liga and the Saudi Professional League, will be refereeing his 11th game of the season in all competitions on Wednesday.

He is certainly not afraid to dish out yellow cards having given out no less than 44 in the matches he has refereed but he has not yet sent any player off. In his 10 games, he has awarded two penalty kicks.
