Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has discussed the departures of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to Inter.

“Of course, when we let Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku go, you do not have to be a rocket scientist to know that we needed to buy a striker,” he explained in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Red Devils match with Arsenal.

“It was time for Romelu Lukaku to go, though – he knows that too. He did not want to be here, and what is the point in having players who do not want to be here?”

Since joining Inter, Lukaku has netted three goals in his first seven matches, including a goal in his first Derby Della Madonnina.

As for Sanchez, the Chilean has struggled for regular minutes but did make his first start in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Sampdoria in which he scored before being sent off having been given a second yellow having dived soon into the second half at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
