Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini spoke to Italian media outlet Sky Sports on Saturday following the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 victory over Sampdoria on the weekend.

“The victory in Genoa gives us awareness of our means. We have shown that we can lead the game on a difficult pitch, despite the numerical inferiority.”

“We always stayed together, and we closed the game out with the third goal. This victory gives us morale in view of the important challenges that await us.”

The 25-year-old Italian then spoke about this week’s Champions League game against Barcelona.

“We want to try and win all the matches we play. Now we have a very difficult match in Barcelona, but we want to bring home some points after the draw on the opening game against Slavia Prague. We’ll prepare for the match in the best possible way and only at the final whistle will we start thinking about Juventus.”

Gagliardini then spoke of the tactics of coach Antonio Conte.

“We know that for the coach’s game, the work of the midfield is important, even in the final third. We’re trying to do what he asks of us as best we can. It gives us courage and determination. His career speaks for itself; he always wants to win and gives us a lot of stimulation.”

Finally, the player spoke about his current feelings as a Nerazzurri player.

“I’m very happy, I want to do well here. I’ve also become a father; this helps me a lot and I hope that this season can give me a lot of satisfaction on the field.”
