Former Inter and AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has shared his thoughts on why he thinks AC Milan find themselves so far behind Juventus and city rivals Inter.

Under Marco Giampaolo, AC Milan have made their worst start to a league season since 1938 having lost four of their opening six games and pressure is understood to be mounting on the former Sampdoria boss.

“Milan want to return to the top but have to stop living off of the past and instead need to think about the present. In the past 11 months all I have heard about is former players being involved but then I see that Juventus are winning without relying on loads of former players, the same goes for Inter,” he said in an interview with Top Calcio 24.

He concluded by urging those at the helm of the Rossoneri to change their approach: “Milan now needs to concretely think about the present and not about having coaches or people at the club just because they played for the club.”
