The majority of the Milan city council are against Inter and AC Milan’s proposed new stadium according to a report from Il Sole 24 Ore.

20 of the 48 Milanese councillors are completely against both plans put forward by the clubs in recent weeks from American firm Populous and the joint plan from Davide Manica and Cmr Sportium.

Seven councillors have admitted to being unfavourable about the idea of a new stadium being built to replace the two clubs current San Siro home, which has been in operation since way back in 1926 and shared between the clubs since after the second world war concluded.

The report goes on to state that 19 councillors remain undecided on their personal stances but are open to holding talks with club representatives whilst just two councillors are absolutely for the project at the moment.

In the coming weeks the councillors will take a vote to decide whether or not the new stadium project is in the public interest or not.
