La Repubblica have revealed what referee Damir Skomina said to Inter manager Antonio Conte, which led to his post-match interview fury, in Wednesday night’s Champions League clash between Barcelona and Inter.

As per the Rome based news outlet, Slovenian referee Skomina is understood to have said “I cannot stand you anymore” to Conte during one of their many exchanges during the match at the Camp Nou.

In a separate exchange, Skomina demanded respect from Conte and pointed at the ‘respect’ badge on his shirt. Conte made a point of bringing this up in one of his many post-match interviews and insisted that respect must first be mutual and secondly earned.

Skomina has come under a great deal of scrutiny online for the way in which he handled some of the situations in the match, which Barcelona won 2-1, especially for his refusal to consult VAR when it appeared as if Stefano Sensi had been fouled in the penalty box by Arthur.
