The idea of pursuing the new stadium projects in a different part of Milan by Inter and AC Milan isn’t only a way to put pressure on City mayor Giuseppe Sala and the City Council, according to Milano based newspaper Milano Finanza.

The report details how the financial community in the city are seriously considering the idea of pursuing the project in an area of Milan called Milanosesto, in the city suburb of Sesto San Giovanni. The area has many features suitable for a new stadium; It’s close to the main line of the metro and there are already plans in place to build a new railway station as well. Finally, it’s very close to one of the most important motorway junctions in the city.

Furthermore, both accepted projects submitted by Populous and Manica Sportium are adaptable to the area. The paper reports that both clubs specifically requested to the architectural firms to create a project that can be adapted to that area of the city as well, suggesting that the clubs knew they would face difficulties from the City.
