Inter’s defensive trio could prove the decisive factor against Juventus in the Derby d’Italia tomorrow, according to Milano based newspaper la Gazzetta dello Sport.

The trio of Diego Godin, Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij has proved to be one of the strongest backlines in Italy so far this season. Despite their below par performance against Barcelona in the Champions League this week, the trio have worked hard to lower the amount of shots on the Nerazzurri goal.

Against Udinese, Milan and Lazio the trio helped goalkeeper Samir Handanovic keep three clean sheets, with the team only conceding 3.3 shots per game on average. The partnership took some time to develop, first due to Godin’s pre-season injury and then the minor issues faced by de Vrij, but now it appears to be the anchor in Conte’s squad.

Coach Antonio Conte will have surely told the trio to look at the errors made against Barcelona in order to tighten up their play for tomorrow’s game, the most important match so far this season for the Nerazzurri.
