Inter target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is not likely to join the Nerazzurri in the upcoming January transfer window, according to Italian media outlet FcInterNews.
The Lazio midfielder had contacts with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter this summer but in the end remained with the Biancocelesti. Lazio President Claudio Lotito wants at least €100 million for the 24-year-old, a figure too high for the Nerazzurri in January.
Furthermore, the Serie A Midfielder of the Year for last season is close to signing a contract renewal with the Biancocelesti, with the club finalising with the player’s agent a new contract which will expire in 2024, a year longer than his current contract but with a wage increase of at least €1 million net per season.
Whilst Milinkovic-Savic is likely to be the centre of attention in next summer’s transfer window as well, Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi is desperate to reach a fourth-place finish or higher with the Serbian midfielder, in order to qualify for the Champions League.
