Inter defender Diego Godin was substituted off against Juventus earlier tonight due to a knee injury, according to Italian media outlet Sky Sports.

The former Atletico Madrid defender was replaced by 20-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni early in the second half after looking uncomfortable. The Nerazzurri will assess the extent of the player’s injury in the coming days.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan international has an extra week to rest his injury, due to the upcoming international break.

However, the performance of his young replacement will ensure that coach Antonio Conte isn’t too worried about the situation.

Godin has had a strong start to his career with Inter, forming a formidable defensive partnership alongside Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij, with the Nerazzurri only conceding four goals in their first seven games of the championship.

Godin has made six appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri, providing an assist for Stefano Sensi in the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 victory over Udinese last month.
