Inter and AC Milan’s hopes for a new San Siro aren’t looking great, according to Milano based newspaper la Gazzetta dello Sport, with the paper detailing the problems both clubs are facing.

The City of Milan are still deciding whether there is sufficient public interest in the project to give it the go ahead, with more voices calling for renovations to the existing San Siro instead of demolishing it to make way for one of the two suggested projects.

The City councillors at Palazzo Marino are waiting for a report carried out by a third party to check the costs and time requirements of renovation works on the existing stadium, a decision both Inter and AC Milan are not happy about. Both clubs have already decided that renovations will cost too much and take too long and would instead prefer to demolish the stadium to make way for one of the suggested projects by Populous and Manica-Sportium.

However, if the City don’t decide that there is enough public interest for a new stadium, then the club’s will be forced to look elsewhere, with the Milanese suburb of Sesto San Giovanni looking the most likely.
