Inter are optimistic that former Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku will be able to start tonight’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus, according to Rome based newspaper il Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the striker trained with the squad yesterday and this morning at Appiano Gentile before undergoing the necessary treatments in order to get his fitness up to a satisfactory level. However, his appearance tonight will depend on how convinced coach Antonio Conte is of his fitness levels and physical condition.

Conte may be forced to take a risk by starting Lukaku later due to the suspension of former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez, who’s wonderful first half performance against Sampdoria was let down by a second yellow card early in the second half.

The Nerazzurri are aware that there is an issue with finishing chances created and Conte is hoping tonight’s game against Juventus will be an opportunity for the squad to show their growth in that aspect.
