Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke to Italian media outlet InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 loss against Juventus last night.

“Honestly, I have little to blame the team for, apart from the 15 minutes of disbanding that came immediately after Sensi left the pitch. We have to figure out where to improve. We met a team that, in terms of quality and quantity, is very far ahead.”

“We have to be humble and understand this but, at the same time, also be proud that we played them openly. You understand that there are times when they manage, we go too far with our instincts and lose our references. I congratulated the guys because they gave everything, but we have to recognize the value of the opponent, who is now out of reach for us.”

“Let’s continue like this, there will still be falls that will have to make us stronger. We have to think about ourselves, to continue to work and develop our ideas. This is a team that gives emotions, beyond anything. And this is our path, the one that has put Barcelona and Juventus in difficulty. If we think that from one moment to the next, we can avoid a path that I think is very very difficult.”

The 50-year-old Italian then discussed the condition on defender Diego Godin, who was substituted off early in the second half.

“A slight fatigue affected him, but it was a substitution. He showed great personality and played a good match. Our goal will be, in the next 25 days when we will play another 7 games, to try to involve more players in the squad, because so far, I have not been able to do so. Sensi and Barella, for example, have played almost all of them.”

Finally, Conte discussed midfielder Stefano Sensi’s injury.

“It’s a strain, he’ll have some checks. And I repeat: he, Barella, Skriniar, Brozovic and De Vrij almost played all the matches, six and a half or seven. That’s always the point: involve the whole squad to get some rotations.”
