Inter Manager Conte: “We Have To Roll Up Our Sleeves & Start Over, We Want To Improve”

In an interview with DAZN, Inter manager Antonio Conte has reflected on his side’s performance in their 2-1 Derby D’Italia defeat to arch-rivals Juventus last night.

“We have to roll up our sleeves and start our journey again, which will be difficult but fascinating. We want to improve, build and do something beautiful,” he said.

“I brought Vecino on for him and in the last quarter of an hour in the first half we missed him and we failed to find solutions to some things that presented themselves.

He was then asked about what he told the team after the match.

“The boys must be complimented on what they are doing, what they have shown and for their commitment. They know that we need to improve in so many ways such as game management and in certain moments.

“This is part of the growth process. We must recognise that this Juventus already has all of this and are in a league of their own when it comes to squad depth and the quality of their squad.

In conclusion he was asked if he is glad the international break has come now or if he wants to play again immediately.

“I think its come at the right time as so many of the team have played seven games out of seven in a short period of time so they just need to rest. There will be other stages during the season with lots of matches but I think it is right for the boys to rest because they have done so well to perform beyond what we can do at this moment.”
