Inter and Luciano Spalletti are currently separated by quite some distance when it comes to discussing severance pay according to a report from Sky Sport Italia.

AC Milan are looking to hire Spalletti in place of Marco Giampaolo, who they already reportedly have an agreement with, but in order for this to happen, he needs to reach a deal with Inter to terminate his contract.

He is still under contract with the Nerazzurri club until the end of next season and is understood to be asking for a full years worth of the salary owed to him to terminate his contract but Inter’s offer is much lower than that.

Spalletti is seeking a €10 million gross pay-off whilst Inter are believed to have only offer somewhere in the region of €3-4 million.

The report from the broadcaster goes on to detail that due to this problem, AC Milan leaders are now taking a close look at another former Inter manager in Stefano Pioli, who last managed Fiorentina. They should meet tomorrow.
