Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has insisted that Inter must not allow the Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus at the weekend to take away from all the good they have done this season.

“Juventus won with a certain mentality, growing fitness levels and players who make the difference when they come off from the bench. As for Inter, perhaps those six victories made us think that maybe we could win against this Juventus but the differences were on show,” he said in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

“This defeat does not detract from Inter’s work, from what they are doing and from the growth that the team, coach and club, together with the fans are carrying out. To get to the level of Juventus it will still take a lot.”

He concluded: “You cannot make mistakes against the smaller sides because if you keep winning those matches you will always stay close to Juventus and I think that Conte will not want to mess up in those matches.”
