Former AC Milan goalkeeper Giovanni Galli has shared his disappointment at the seemingly inevitable demolition of San Siro in the coming years but had admitted to being well aware as to why both Inter and AC Milan wish to go down the route of a new stadium.

“San Siro is a monument and it is only logical that I am nostalgic for such a stadium, I would be very sorry if it were to be no more,” he said in an interview with Milan based news outlet Il Giorno.

“I must also however understand that we are in 2019 and the two clubs have certain needs. If San Siro is not compatible, it will be necessary to ensure that the clubs have the possibility of being able to have a comfortable, accessible stadium, with all the extras that will bring profits in a different way, not only when games are happening.”
