Former Inter player and current Bayern Munich executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reminisced about his time in Nerazzurri as part of an event dedicated to him at the Trento Sports Festival.

Firstly he spoke on how he got on with Inter fans and Ernesto Pellegrini, who was the club’s president at the time.

“I had a great friendship with the Inter fans and even when I had to leave the club due to injuries, I always felt their love,” he began.

“I was the first signing of Ernesto Pellegrini’s presidency and he always managed Inter in a humane way, helping players during difficult times. I always feel indebted to him and to Inter for not managing to win the title as that is what I wanted to do.”

He then spoke briefly on what he has made of Ivan Perisic’s time at Bayern Munich so far.

“He is doing well and he has also scored a few goals. We also have Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry on the wings. We are happy with Perisic.”

He concluded by sharing his thoughts on Inter as a club.

“Inter is undoubtedly a special team. I realised it just a few days after I arrived, during the pre-season retreat: every night a lot people came to greet us and celebrate. Inter is something special, they immediately told me that you are born Inter and you die Inter.”
