In an interview with alairelibre.cl, Chilean national team manager Reinaldo Rueda has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez could see him action at striker in their upcoming matches.

“I have always liked him as a centre forward. When he was at Manchester United I remember him playing in a friendly when Jose Mourinho was in charge at striker and he played against Mexico as a striker for us too,” Rueda, who has been in charge of Chile for almost two years, said.

“Alexis is a great alternative and if he manages to improve in that position at Inter, it can be very positive for us to have that other option because of the inconsistency we have had from Edu Vargas, Nico Castillo and Felipe Mora.”

Three of Sanchez’s four appearances for Inter since his Summer arrival on a season long loan from Manchester United have come as a striker whilst he was deployed as a second striker in his other appearance. In 129 minutes on the park, the former Barcelona player has contributed one goal and one assist.
