Samir Handanovic is on the verge of signing a one year contract extension with Inter according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Inter captain is already under contract with the club until the end of next season and only a few small details need to be ironed out before his extension to 2022 can be confirmed.

The Slovenian shot-stopper, who has been at Inter since 2012, is not the only player close to signing a new contract with the club either with the Milan based news outlet further reporting that Lautaro Martinez is in the same boat as him.

Inter have offered the Argentine striker €2.5 million to prolong his current contract by a further season but the player and his representatives are believed to be holding out for €3 million, which would bring him more in line with some of his teammates. It also remains to be seen what will happen to his €111 million release clause that is in his current deal.
